Welcome to My Treeschool Childcare!
I am Sona, the provider of care, love, and education for your children.
I am an educator by profession and have nearly 40 years of experience in teaching. I have taught Armenian language and literature in Armenia for over 20 years, prior to moving to the United States. To me, educating children is one of the most rewarding tasks in life, and every mastered skill is a triumph. As a teacher, I know how important it is to be able to deliver knowledge and educate a student, but I believe that it is even more essential to provide love, security, trust, and confidence to help them discover the world around them and thrive.
I grew up in a family where imagination, creativity, active lifestyle, and self-sufficiency were greatly encouraged. As kids, we would come up with various games and craft ideas, just using what we had available in our backyard. The fun was endless, as was the learning. Therefore, I strive to provide a space that allows the children to feel empowered to set their own goals and reach their full potential.
The earliest years of life are a crucial period for the development of a child's personality. This is when they learn the values that will shape their lives, the behaviors they will display in different social settings, and the skills they will need to succeed in life. Just like a good gardener, I love to pamper the little seeds in the rich soil and watch the healthy sprouts grow.
Every child is unique and comes from a different background, and I strongly believe that each of them deserves that unconditional love and care for a successful start in their life's journey. Tying their shoes, zipping up their jackets, making their own salads, or spinning the pedals on the tricycle is celebrated and encouraged for reaching new levels of learning. Every child has a talent, and with the right support, the world is their oyster.
Speaking of oysters, I have an immense love for the sea and underwater nature. I am a certified rescue diver and never miss the opportunity to explore new dive sites and observe the fascinating underwater world.
Besides scuba diving, I have a passion for mountain climbing and gardening. And I am delighted to bring this knowledge and experience into my childcare program in a variety of ways.
